COMMUNITY TECHNOLOGY CENTER

Abraham Lincoln Centre’s Community Technology Center is located at the 38th and Cottage Grove office and provides basic technology literacy skills training, advanced training and specialized programs.  Students learn common technology terminology and equipment, computer and productivity software to organize and create information, and communications software to access and transmit information.

A primary goal of the Community Technology Center is to bridge the "digital divide" which places low-income families without access to computers at a disadvantage socially, intellectually and economically. The key focus of sharing with students is the understanding of basic computer literacy skills and introduction to the Microsoft office suite applications. Individuals demonstrate their increased proficiency in various ways.  Pre and post examinations are given so accomplishments can be tracked and celebrated.

The Community Technology Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 am until 7 pm.   The services offered through include:  Computer Technology and Education, Program Collaborations, Occupational Training, Independent Study, Multimedia Publication HUB, and Small Business Owner’s Center. We offer computer classes for youth, adult, senior citizens and staff literacy training.  The Community Technology Center is partially funded by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
